Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how HelloMyTrainer ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and shares information when you visit hellomytrainer.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you give us
You can use the Site without creating an account or giving us your name, email address or other personal details. If you email us, we receive your email address and any information you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you and keep a record of the conversation.
1.2 Calculator and plan builder inputs
Our plan builder and calculators (such as BMI, calorie, macro, body fat, one-rep max and water intake calculators) run entirely in your web browser. The values you enter, such as age, height, weight and activity level, are not sent to our servers and are not stored by us. We may save your preferred unit setting (US or metric) in your browser's local storage so the Site remembers it on your next visit; you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data.
1.3 Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider and our analytics and advertising partners automatically collect certain information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and approximate location (city or country level). This information is collected through log files, cookies, web beacons and similar technologies.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device. We and our partners use them to:
- Remember your preferences (for example, your unit setting and cookie notice choice);
- Understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it (analytics);
- Show advertising, limit how often you see an ad, and measure ad performance.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block cookies, some features may not work properly, and you may still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.
3. Advertising
We use third-party advertising companies, such as Google AdSense and/or Mediavine and their partners, to serve ads when you visit the Site. These companies may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.
3.1 Google
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices or, in the EU/UK, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- Learn more about how Google uses data at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
3.2 Other ad networks (including Mediavine)
If we work with an ad management company such as Mediavine, that company and its advertising partners may collect and use data, including IP addresses, cookie identifiers and device information, to serve and measure ads. Their privacy practices are described in their own privacy policies, and Mediavine provides additional information and opt-out choices on its website. Where required by law, ads in certain regions (such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and some U.S. states) are only personalized after you give consent through a consent management platform.
4. Analytics
We may use analytics tools such as Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the Site. These tools collect information such as pages visited and time spent on the Site using cookies. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
5. How we use information
- To operate, maintain and improve the Site;
- To respond to your emails and requests;
- To understand usage trends and improve our content;
- To show and measure advertising that funds the Site;
- To protect the Site against fraud, abuse and security threats;
- To comply with legal obligations.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only with: service providers who help us run the Site (such as hosting, analytics and email providers); advertising partners as described above; and authorities when required by law or to protect our rights. Under some U.S. state laws, the use of advertising cookies may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; see Section 8 for your choices.
7. Your rights (EEA, UK and similar regions)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another region with similar laws, you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Our legal bases for processing are your consent (for advertising and analytics cookies where required), our legitimate interests (running and securing the Site) and legal obligations. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Your rights (United States)
Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Texas) may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to access and delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. To exercise these rights, email us at contact@hellomytrainer.com with the subject "Privacy request". You can also use the opt-out tools in Section 3 and your browser's Global Privacy Control setting where supported. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
9. Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Data retention and security
We keep emails only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
11. Third-party links
The Site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
12. International visitors
The Site is operated from the United States. If you visit from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed. Please check this page regularly.
